We look back to traditional farming methods: fermentation as a way of increasing nutritional benefit and ingredient preservation and improving the probiotic and nutritional value of food rather than loading up with empty calories, colourants and E numbers.
We meet our farmers, visit their farms and their dairies, discuss various farming techniques, as well as packaging options and make friends with the farm workers. That is how we ensure that we deliver only the finest quality produce, from pasture fed animals, organically certified fruit and vegetables and an array of dairy and condiments that are minimally processed in order to maintain their nutritional integrity.
Our belief is that food is not an entity in isolation but rather it is what heals us or what can make us ill. A strong connection to where our food comes from and how it is handled is integral to overall health and well-being. That is why we source only the freshest fruit and vegetables and only what is in season, this sometimes means we don’t have the variety but we are assured that what we are eating is only the best! Where possible we also source as much of our produce unpackaged and sell it a lower price to encourage shoppers to make good healthy choices when it comes to packaging and our impact on the environment. When the need to package does arise we do so in biodegradable, corn starch packaging or reusable glass.
We believe that healthy choices and conscientious shopping should be available and encouraged, even if it might not be the most convenient choice, it is the right one, for ourselves, our families, our communities and our environment. Our motto, “just because it’s easy, doesn’t make it right!”
